Endless Impossibilities: Understanding and Preparing for the Coming Age of Quantum Computing
In a previous post I mentioned that I will be releasing my next book at SXSW 2018. It’s called Endless Impossibilities: Understanding and Preparing for the Coming Age of Quantum Computing. I thought I would take a moment to share a little more about the book, and why I feel it is so important that I publish it.
It’s no secret that I feel like quantum computing will be the biggest computing revolution of our time. It will change the way we approach big data, protect privacy, and address some of society’s biggest challenges. The sheer power of these machines is mind-boggling. As excited as I am about the technology, I am very much in the minority. I believe the problem is not a lack of interest, but rather a lack of exposure. No one is really trying to evangelize quantum computing to the masses.
WHO WILL READ THIS BOOK? WHAT WILL THEY GET OUT OF READING IT?
If you are interested in the subject of quantum computing, but don’t quite understand it or how it will impact your reality, then this book is for you. This book will be the simplest thorough way to get up to speed. I want you to realize that the future is here. That this is a great area to dive into as a developer, entrepreneur, or business person looking for strategic advantages in computing.
Without making quantum computing more commonly known and understood, I don’t see investors backing quantum computing startups. I don’t see corporations exploring how the technology will affect them. With no capital for startups and no corporations paying attention, this technology–which could change the lives of each and every one of us–will struggle to take off.
I drank too much of the quantum Kool-aid not to do my part to ensure that doesn’t happen.
